Climate change, being a cross-border issue, requires ​​research through the cooperation of multiple scientific disciplines, as well as the attention of policy-makers, social partners, stakeholders, and the general public.

Scientific research and the dissemination of its findings need to work hand-in-hand to make sure that breakthroughs in knowledge on climate change and its impacts on society, the environment and the economy reach the general public in an easy-to-understand way that can lead to concrete action.

Two centers of excellence in Italy, aware of the need for a common effort and shared resources to ride the fast track to the world of communication and politics, have formed a partnership to achieve specific research, information, education and networking initiatives on climate change and how to deal with it.

The Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC) is, at the national and international level, an institutional reference point for policy-makers, institutions, and public and private companies in the field of climate change studies. Headquartered in Lecce, Italy, it operates through a network of research sites and offices in Bologna, Capua, Milan, Sassari, Venice, Viterbo and Benevento.
The International Center for Climate Governance (ICCG), with headquarters on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice, brings together researchers in economics and socio-politics who study the interdependencies between economic, social, cultural, ethical and political aspects of climate governance.

The collaboration between these two institutions will see the development of joint research projects of policy support and networking, in addition to the organization of cultural events and activities aimed at keeping the general public more closely informed on climate change issues. Also slated are joint educational activities on policy and management topics related to climate change.
