Climate change – The Grand Challenge

On December 1st, 2017, in Venice (Ca’ Foscari University – Zattere Venezia) the results of the international contest of communication and creativity on climate change “Climate change – The Grand Challenge” will be illustrated with the presentation of the selected works.

The initiative is organized by Shylock Centro Universitario Teatrale Di Venezia, in association with Ca’Foscari University of Venice, Europe Direct Venice and VLC VeniceClimateLab, and the patronage of several organizations and institutions (among them, also the CMCC Foundation) and aims at the production and indication of works that highlight propositional methods and opportunities for interaction with the environment and the effects induced by climate change.
Candidates are asked to realize or identify creative works in order to support and foster the living together of human beings, natural world and the effects of a changing climate.
A jury of representatives from the  cultural and  scientific sectors will select an undefined number of winning  works (among them, CMCC President Antonio Navarra).

The competition, referring to the final summary of the IPCC’s Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) 2014, the Paris Agreement  adopted  at  the  United  Nations  Climate  Change  Conference  in  Paris in December 2015 and in New York in April 2016, focuses on adaptation and mitigation strategies and the actions needed to urgently pursue the aims set by the international community.

The event will take place during the celebration of the Antarctica Day 2017.
