Methods and tools for vulnerability assessment

Posted on

The CMCC Foundation organized the Regional Workshop on Methods and Tools for Vulnerability Assessment (from 3rd to 5th February, 2016, in Milan); the event was organized in the framework of the project ClimaSouth and covered a wide spectrum of vulnerability assessment methods using quantitative models and participatory (stakeholder based) approaches. To illustrate the methods, the workshop was focused on the vulnerability assessment on coastal zone and agriculture sector.

The workshop aimed at strengthening institutional adaptation capacity while increasing regional cooperation, through joint training and the sharing of experiences and case studies and was built on concepts and results in the latest IPCC report (Climate Change 2014: Impacts, Adaptation, and Vulnerability) and the outcomes of the Paris Agreement. Nine CMCC experts (E. Bucchignani, E. Calliari, A. Critto, I. Federico, E. Furlan, V. Giannini, R. Lecci, V. Mereu and S. Torresan) from five different CMCC Divisions (ECIP, IAFES, OPA, RAAS, REMHI) participated as trainers.
The three-days workshop was chaired by G. Galluccio, ClimaSouth Scientific Leader and Project manager.
