When: 16th – 17th May 2017
Where: Museo de la Universidad de Alicante

On May 17th, 2017, in Alicante, the Interreg MED Programme is organising a community building event entitled “We are MED” – Going beyond thematic communities. The event will be the occasion to work on a common work methodology between partners and build a strong Interreg MED community.

During the event, the MEDNICE Horizontal project will meet its Modular projects on May 16th, 2017. The event will be an important opportunity of debate on the methodology to improve the mutual understanding between the Modular Projects and the Horizontal Project and to be working closely together in a more efficient way.

The overall objective of MEDNICE is to empower MED projects’ partners through the establishment of a MED community and a joint transnational framework around energy efficiency (EE) in public buildings by setting up training and peer learning mechanisms.

Moreover, MEDNICE will analyze and summarize EE practices through thematic and policy papers for the benefit of the MED community relying upon its network for an effective dissemination of the Modular Projects results.

The context
The eight Interreg MED thematic communities of projects started to work, following the approval of the 1st call for projects in 2016. Besides working within each thematic community, it is most important to induce synergies and transversal cross debates between them, right from the start by creating a joint work dynamic and a sense of belonging to the Interreg MED community of stakeholders.

Thus, the key point of the event is to emphasise/highlight/showcase the inherent knowledge of each thematic community, to help them acquire a greater degree of self-awareness and confidence about methods and goals by sharing practices with each other.

The event also aims at preparing the capitalisation process that will be highlighted later in the mid-term transnational event. This will be achieved through mutual learning among the thematic communities of projects and by extracting and harvesting common ideas, tools and methods which will improve the results of the Programme.
This fruitful interaction will lead the Programme to an improved transfer of results and consolidate the capitalisation process, thus reinforcing the outreach and the impact of the Programme in its territories.

The main objectives of the event are:

  • Kick-start the capitalisation process  in view of the mid-term trans-national event planned for May 2018;
  • Present and share plans and ideas;
  • Identify synergies between projects belonging to different thematic areas and further develop them;
  • Identify potential links with internal and/or external platforms;
  • Point out potential problems, solutions and good practices;
  • Create a team dynamic between all thematic communities, fostering a team spirit.
