The Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change will attend the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development organizing many side events in the pavilion of the Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea.

“Climate adaptation in tropical zones” is the title of the event organized by CMCC (June 19, 17:00). Strategies to be adopted to stabilize the more vulnerable areas to current and future impacts of climate change will be discussed in the debate with speakers such as Corrado Clini, Minister for the Environment, Land and Sea of Italy, Carlos Nobre, Brazilian National Space Research Institute, Antonio Navarra, CMCC President, and Riccardo Valentini, Director of the IAFENT  (Impacts on Agriculture, Forests and Natural Earth Ecosystems) Division at CMCC.

CMCC will also participate in other events focused on climate change and sustainable development. Moreover, forests will be the topics of a round table about monitoring and detecting deforestation in the Amazon, while energy, environmental risks and GHG emissions reduction will be discussed in other two different debates.
The first debate is focused on the Italy-São Paulo Environmental cooperation to achieve a Low Carbon Economy; the second one draws attention to perspectives about oil extraction, with a special focus on risks related of oil spills.
