Sea forecast and analysis, TESSA’s website is online

Posted on

It’s online TESSA’s website (development of technologies for the Situational Sea Awareness), the projects that aims at developing products and services for Situational Sea Awareness (SSA) based on new operational oceanography environmental data integrated into advanced technological platforms for use by end users in the maritime sector, tourism and environmental protection.

A project that wants to produce and disseminate oceanographic analyses and high resolution forecasts for Southern Italy seas, coastal areas and ports in Puglia, Calabria, Sicily and Campania.

A project rooted in two operational centres, based in Lecce and in Naples.

The website provides news about the project, and informations to understand operational oceanography and the EU framework in which TESSA is integrated. The website also supplies for informations about products and services such as marine environment monitoring and forecasting, routing services, water quality monitoring and pollution control, modeling of pollutant transport and early warning systems in case of danger, search and rescue operations, coastal areas and ecosystems monitoring and protection.

CMCC is partner of the project; its operative center in Lecce deals with forecast systems applied to the Mediterranean, Adriatic and Ionian Sea and with high-resolution systems (development and operation). CMCC also contributes to the modeling of pollutant transport, the development of the Data Analysis Centre and the elaboration of decision support tools (DSS – Decision Support System) and Tessa services.
