The COP 22 Side Event “The opportunities of climate change at high latitudes: Italy-Russia cooperation” will take place on Tuesday 15 November (h 10.30 a.m.) and is organized by the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change.

Climate change impacts in boreal regions may have both negative and positive aspects. The focus of this workshop is to highlight the current scientific knowledge and possible green economy development arising from adaptation and mitigation measures. Examples of cooperation between Italian and Russian scientific centers will be presented: the strategic pole for organic photovoltaics in Saint Petersburg, the agro-ecology excellence research center in Moscow, the smart climate lab for the Asia-Pacific Region in Vladivostok and the green economy platform of Officinae Verdi. All centers are the result of a fruitful Italian-Russian cooperation of scientific excellence where CMCC together with other Italian universities and industrial partners is playing a fundamental role with its climate research supercomputer platform and modeling capabilities.
