General aims
Update and monitoring of the water footprint of the Company and quantification of the reduction potential from reduction measures formulated and implemented.
CMCC Role
Support to the activities related to the Direction on the Partnerships with Enterprises of WWF referred to the Mutti project – water footprint.
Expected results
Release of a work plan comprehensive and complete to calculate the water footprint (WF) at the Company level.
Activity
- Revision and confirmation of the data collection tool and of the monitoring system on the water footprint reduction objectives.
- Quantification and update of the water footprint, considering annual production data, meteorological conditions and operation in the factory, according to the Water Footprint Manual (and other referenced methodologies).
- Monitoring of the water footprint reduction objectives.
- Analysis of water footprint trends under climate regime and footprint reduction scenarios, based on hypotheses of agricultural practices (irrigation, fertilization, fertirrigation) to support valuable correction measures.
- Scientific support and identification of correction measures (new technologies, actions for involvement and training of farmers and their associations) to achieve reduction target.
- Updates about seasonal prediction systems at CMCC to promote evaluation and adoption by the Company.
- Contribution to the definition of guidelines (template) to promote submission of proposal for the award “Idee per l’Acqua”.
