Abstract
Disaggregating the electricity sector in a CGE model involves not just the disaggregation of an aggregate (electricity) ‘commodity’ into many different commodities which are all homogenous, but actually the disaggregation or dis-section of the abstract neo-classical concept of a ‘production function’ into the many different real world production technologies each possessing different sets of engineering as well as economic characteristics. How to incorporate these characteristics into the conventional framework of a CGE model is challenge that this talk will focus attention on.
