Francesco D’Amico received a Master of Science degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Pisa in 2015. In 2014 he was an intern at ESA/ESTEC, the Netherlands, working on ENVISAT-MERIS and Sentinel-3-OLCI Level 0/1/2 optical data in the EOP-PVP group. In 2016, he started working as a research engineer on the improvement of the Level 2 sea surface salinity retrieval algorithm and in calibration/validation activities for the ESA’s SMOS mission, at LOCEAN-IPSL (CNRS), France, in the framework of the ESL contract. In 2019 he joined ARGANS LTD, UK, where he was responsible for the evolutive maintenance of the SMOS Level 2 Ocean Salinity prototype processor, data processing and data quality control. Since October 2021 he is a research associate involved in the validation of the Global Ocean Forecasting System, in the Ocean Data Assimilation group at CMCC, Italy. He is also supporting a case study and defining future science data exploitation for ESA’S HARMONY, the 10th Earth Explorer candidate mission.
