Riccardo Hénin is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at CMCC. Previously, he served as a collaborator for CMCC s.r.l., in the framework of a research project with one of the leading Italian insurance companies.
He has recently attended a Ph.D. program at Instituto Dom Luiz, University of Lisbon (Portugal) where he gained experience in extra-tropical weather. His background is in Physics and he holds a Master’s Degree in Physics of the Earth System at the University of Bologna.
During the Ph.D., he worked as a team member for two international research projects and produced proven records of peer-reviewed scientific publications.
His research has been mainly focused on precipitation and wind extremes, convective and hail events, atmospheric fronts, extra-tropical cyclones and cyclone dynamics.
The methodologies he applied include sensitivity analysis, analysis of extremes, numerical modelling and, more recently, machine learning techniques.
