Andrea Giannotta obtained his Master’s degree in Computer Engineering at the University of Salento in April 2020, presenting a thesis entitled “Subsurface feature extraction techniques applied to Marsis radargrams”. The thesis concerns the use of both Artificial Neural Networks (Machine Learning and Deep Neural Networks) and deterministic approaches for water discovery, feature extraction and surface clutter returns removal processes on MARSIS (European Space Agency) radargrams. During his thesis’ work he had the opportunity to collaborate with Roberto Orosei (member of INAF – Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica) and Giovanni Aloisio (member of the CMCC Strategic Council, Director of the CMCC Supercomputing Center and Full professor of Information Processing Systems at the Dept. of Innovation Engineering of the University of Salento, Lecce, Italy).
In June 2020, he started a collaboration with the Advanced Scientific Computing (ASC) division of the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC). His research focuses on portable climate data analytics at scale through software containers on Cloud and High Performance Computing systems, mainly for the “Ophidia Big Data Analytics” project.
Some other completed projects, attended courses and obtained certifications are briefly reported in the CV.
He is a curious person, lover of technology and science.
