Gaia Vaglio Laurin is an ecologist specialized in remote sensing for environmental monitoring and biodiversity conservation.
She worked many years in developing countries, for international institutions and research centers. She also collaborated with the EU private industry sector for GMES and other European Space Agency programmes.
Among the different environmental issues she faced there are: desertification, land use change, species conservation, deforestation, conservation planning, protected areas.
She works with optical, radar and lidar sensors, using GIS tools too.
Gaia is currently focusing her activity in vegetation monitoring, particularly above ground biomass in forests.
