Adaptation Strategies to Global Environmental Change in the Mediterranean City and the Role of Global Earth Observations” will explore the growing potential of GEO and exploit climate information transfer from the science to the stakeholder application realm in order to develop suitable adaptation measures at national and regional levels. It will enhance and strengthen international and regional cooperation and promote awareness and tools for future adaptation strategies. The Conference will support and enhance the effort of Mediterranean cities to work together to address the management challenges they face by creating new and strengthening existing collaborations among scientists, policy makers, elected officials, corporate sustainability leaders, engineers, planners, natural resource managers and others in Mediterranean-climate cities.
The Conference will focus on the benefits of both short and long-term adaptation planning to cities in Mediterranean-climate regions while highlighting case studies of successful implementation strategies. The objective is to identify best adaptation programs and approaches and evaluate their benefits and applicability to the Mediterranean cities. The Conference proposes a holistic approach integrated across disciplines and crossing national boundaries to affect appropriate climate change responses.
The Conference is held under the auspices of the Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
