Pathways to deep decarbonization in Italy

Posted on

In the run up of the 21st Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP21), on October 26th, 2015, the report “Pathways to Deep Decarbonization in Italy” will be presented in Rome.

Realized by ENEA and FEEM researchers, the report presents three alternative pathways to achieve deep decarbonization, or an 80% GHG emission reduction by 2050 compared to 1990 levels, while assessing their macroeconomic impacts by focusing on implications for growth, employment, and competitiveness. The final part of the report draws overall conclusions, highlights policy implications, and provides recommendations.
The report is realized within The Deep Decarbonization Pathways Project (DDPP), an initiative of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI-SciencesPo), involving 16 different research groups from the main GHG emitting countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, UK, USA.
The purpose of the report is to explore alternative decarbonization pathways that limit the increase in global surface temperature to 2 degrees Celsius (°C) while exploring technological and infrastructural solutions.

The final program of the event will be soon available.
