CMCC Side event alongside UNFCCC COP19 “Integrating Climate Knowledge into Planning, Orientgate and other case studies in SEE”

The CMCC, in collaboration with Lombardy Foundation for the Environment, organizes the side event “Integrating Climate Knowledge into Planning, Orientgate and other case studies in SEE” to be held at COP19 in Warsaw, Poland, on November 21st, 2013 (h. 3:00 – 4:30 pm, room Wroclaw).

Climate issues are intrinsically not addressable by a single nation and a transnational approach is crucial to deal with a problem having no boundaries. Effective long term adaptation strategies require overall coordination in establishing shared objectives and management schemes even if ultimately implemented at regional and local scales. Moreover, the substantial knowledge produced by the scientific communities should be properly taken into account to inform policies and develop strategies. The side event will bring together scientists, policy advisors and policy makers to share their experience in integrating their expertise and knowledge in addressing the climate adaptation issue: case studies, project activities and concrete strategies will be analyzed at EU, national and  regional level.
