Lorenzo Carelli obtained his Master’s degree in Environmental engineering from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 2017.
The main area of interest of his studies was resource usage optimization, which led to presenting a thesis entitled “Application of direct policy search to the management of multi-reservoir systems – A study of the Nile river”. In this work he conducted a direct policy search in a multi-objective framework using artificial neural networks.
In 2018 he joined CMCC, where he contributed to further develop and improve the VISIR ship routing model.
The progress of the software was documented in different papers, where its results were used to conduct statistical assessments or were compared to actually sailed routes.
