SHiFT Art-Science Lab for young creatives and early career researchers
2 days Art & Science Lab in Venice and visit at the 60th International ART BIENNALE 2024.
14-15 June, Venice (Italy)

Two days Art & Science Lab in Venice and visit at the 60th International ART BIENNALE 2024.

Young creatives from 18 to 29 years old are invited to share their imagination and interpretation of how we will live together well. Participation is subject to the submission of a photo and narrative illustrating creative responses to how we can (re)create our futures together using the submission link.

With this Art-Science Lab, we are seeking creative responses to difficult questions and challenges, including: How will we live together well? What futures do we desire? How do we move further together? How will we cope with species extinction, natural degradation, and the loss of places? How can we relate beauty, engagement, and sustainability? How can we strengthen a sense of community and connection to all and a feeling of oneness when we address global challenges? What stories can we tell to nurture beautiful, inclusive, sustainable places in harmony with people, nature, and our planet?

How to take part

Submit a photo that illustrates your imagination by 31 March 2024, to receive a travel grant for participation in a 2-day art-and-science lab in Venice.

The image should be accompanied by an image title and a short narrative in English (max 300 words) that reflects the inspiration and personal interpretation of the photo in the context of the competition thematic framework.

The image should be taken by you and can be located anywhere in the world and be at any scale, capturing the essence of the place or the experience of those that inhabit it. Every participant can submit up to two photos. Each photo should be submitted as a separate submission.

The event is organized as part of the COST action SHIFT (Social Sciences and Humanities for transformation and climate resilience).
