COP30
15 November 2025, h. 9:30 AM –11:00 AM (local time in Belém) | Belém, Brasil – Italian Pavilion

In many parts of the world, people have a deep connection with the land from which they derive not only sustenance, livelihoods, and resources, but also their identities and dignity. Ensuring that a greater number of people are able to access, control, and use land is not only essential to reducing inequalities – it is also a catalyst for food security and enhanced nutrition, a key driver of resilience against natural disasters, and a powerful pathway to unlock economic opportunity. This event will explore how the rule of law approaches can transform land governance models into more inclusive and sustainable systems. It will showcase practical strategies, research findings, and case studies from diverse contexts, and examine how law and policy tools can address inequalities, enhance food security, alleviate tensions and disputes over natural resources, and promote more effective environmental stewardship grounded in rights-based approaches.

The event “Solutions for people and the planet: reimagining land governance putting people at the centre of land and natural resources” is organized by CMCC Foundation, International Development Law Organization (IDLO) and Latin American Climate Lawyers Initiative for Climate Action (LACLIMA) in the context of COP30 in Belém. It will take place at the Italian Pavilion on November 15, 2025 at 9:30AM.
