The election, which took place at the CLM-Community (Climate Limited-area Modelling-Community) Annual Meeting 2023, represents a significant step forward in the international recognition of the CMCC Foundation as a leader in the field of regional climate modelling.

At the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Climate Limited-area Modelling-Community (CLM-Community), held at the University of Leuven in Belgium from 18 to 22 September, the CMCC Foundation was officially elected by the Assembly as new core institution of this scientific community. This recognition gives the CMCC Foundation a central role within this international network of scientists who develop and use the COSMO-CLM and ICON-CLM regional climate models.

The CMCC Foundation has been an active member of the CLM Assembly since 2008, and its election as core institution is a proof of the important scientific contribution made by the Foundation in this group. In particular, CMCC is a committed participant in several Working Groups within the CLM-Community, serving as coordinator in the SOIL VEGETATION and CLIMATE PROJECTION Working Groups. The important activity of developing urban parameterisation in the COSMO CLM and ICON models should also be highlighted.

As a core institution, the CMCC Foundation will join the Scientific Advisory Board, which is responsible for supporting, advising and guiding the CLM-Community. This election represents a significant step forward in the international recognition of the CMCC Foundation as a leader in the field of regional climate modelling.
