The 8th edition of London Climate Action Week, taking place from 20 to 28 June, brings together leading institutions, researchers, policymakers, businesses, and communities for Europe’s largest city-wide climate festival and one of the world’s largest independent climate change events.

This year CMCC is co-organizing, together with the Leverhulme Centre for Wildfires, Environment and Society, a special panel on wildfire predictions and risk management in a changing climate on 24 June, 10-12AM BST, in what is a unique opportunity to showcase CMCC’s expertise whilst partaking in London’s unparalleled ecosystem of climate and non-climate organisations to accelerate global climate action.

The CMCC event addresses the LCAW’s key theme of understanding climate risk and building resilience. From emerging technologies to informed decisions the event will examine emerging evidence, technological innovation, and the broader implications of wildfire activity across climate, ecosystems, and society, bringing together researchers working at the forefront of fire science, risk analysis, and climate governance to explore the latest advances in responding to fires in a warming world.

In response to increasingly urgent challenges, advances in science and technology are changing how we understand and manage evolving fire risks. From Artificial Intelligence tools that help anticipate fires, to improved systems for tracking their impact on the global carbon cycle, researchers are developing new ways to support better decisions and more effective risk management.

At LCAW CMCC researchers are also taking part in discussions on climate adaptation finance ahead of COP30. More details will be available soon. Keep following this page for the latest updates on CMCC’s participation and activities at LCAW.
