Jonathan Spinoni (PhD in Physics) is a researcher in climate sciences, with eighteen years of experience on climate hazards, drought, desertification, and impacts of climate change.
He worked for the University of Milan, the European Commission, Polytechnic of Milan, and acted as scientific advisor for the UNCCD. He joined the REMHI Division of CMCC Foundation in 2025.
He published more than 40 scientific papers and contributed to the IPCC-AR6, the GAR Special Report on Drought, and the UNCCD Report on Aridity in 2024. His current research focuses on the exposure of population and ecosystems to past and projected climate extremes over both global and local scale.
