Making the right decisions to tackle the global environmental emergency requires a constant stream of robust, usable evidence. Traditional mechanisms of knowledge generation and transfer may not be sufficient to meet every need.
In this talk, Jamie Males – Executive Editor of PLOS Climate – will reflect on his experiences as a professional editor in a period of accelerating change in the scientific publishing landscape, with new challenges, shifting cultural norms and the emergence of disruptive technologies. He will address some of the key questions facing everyone who wants to see a fairer, more transparent and more efficient knowledge ecosystem. What could it mean to go ‘beyond the article’? What will this entail for open science infrastructure, and for publishers’ business models?
Jamie will discuss how PLOS is demonstrating that new solutions are feasible and deliver tangible benefits for the entire research enterprise.
