Learn about the needs for climate information and services from the perspective of the communication and journalism sectors to identify challenges and recommendations.
The Stakeholders’ perspectives webinar series aims to understand the needs related to climate services and their standardisation from the stakeholders’ point of view. Each webinar focuses on a specific stakeholder group, aiming to learn about their experiences and requirements for the integration of climate-related information in their day-to-day activities.
This webinar session, focusing on the communication and journalism sector. This session will feature the journalist Vera Penêda from the European Journalism Centre and the climate scientist and communicator Vladimir Djurdjevic from the University of Belgrade. The webinar will be moderated by the Climateurope2 partner Marta Terrado from Barcelona Supercomputing Center.
Speakers will describe the needs and barriers for the use of climate information by the media and science communicators. They will also discuss good practices in the sector and how standardizing some of these practices has the potential to improve the uptake and communication of climate information to different audiences. An open discussion will follow, where questions from the audience will be encouraged.

Climateurope2 is a project aiming to develop standardisation procedures and recommendations for climate services, while supporting and bringing together the European climate services community. In addition, the project strives to enhance the uptake of quality-assured climate services to support adaptation and mitigation to climate change and variability. This will underpin the leading role of Europe when it comes to the production of trustworthy, user-relevant knowledge to manage climate risks and enhance adaptive capacities, while benefiting climate services at the global scale.
