The International Center for Climate Governance awards Good Practices on Climate: “Good ideas to prepare our cities for Climate Change”

/
What we do
/

The climate is changing and so are the strategies that we implement to counteract its consequences. Good practices represent an optimal solution for dealing with the complexity of environmental issues, but there are also barriers to be broken down in order for these good practices to reveal their full efficacy. The low sensitivity of citizens towards the environment, understood as res publica, the widespread distrust of politicians, the uncertainty and disagreement within the scientific community and the spread of the global economic crisis are just a few examples of the obstacles to effective solutions for dealing with issues related to the climate and the environment. Only by fully understanding the complex mechanism behind the emergence and development of good climate practices will help to unlock the mechanisms that often compromise success. However, some good examples do exist, as well as brilliant minds that use their intelligence as a means to combat climate change and its consequences. During the event, the Director of the International Center for Climate Governance, Carlo Carraro, will be pleased to announce the winners of the contest “Climate Change and Urban Resilience. How to respond to prepare our cities to climate changes related challenges.” The competition, open to all the good practices of urban resilience to climate change, was created as part of the ICCG Climate Best Practices observatory in 2012. It aims to disseminate the best climate practices worthy of particular emphasis for their originality and effectiveness. The event will take place during the European Researchers’ Night in 2013.
