Abstract
Severe weather conditions can pose a serious threat to coastal communities in Scotland, especially those living in low-lying coastal margins. The majority of the population of Scotland lives in high-density cities facing the sea. Here we discuss two ocean models, one for the east coast of Scotland and the other for the Firth of Clyde, which were used to study the complex interaction between coastline, tides, wind-generated surges and waves.

The seminar will be held at the CMCC premises in Bologna, Viale Berti Pichat 6/2 (ground floor)
