Federica Stella Blasi is the Scientific Program Manager of the Global Coasts as a New Frontier program at the CMCC Foundation. She provides operational and strategic coordination for this initiative, ensuring the effective implementation of interdisciplinary research activities addressing climate-related risks, resilience, adaptation, and sustainable development in coastal systems.
Her responsibilities include supporting the development and execution of the program’s strategic roadmap, aligning cross-unit teams, managing budget and resources, overseeing international collaborations, and ensuring that scientific outputs translate into accessible, actionable solutions for institutional and community stakeholders. She also contributes to institutional engagement and governance, fostering strategic partnerships and coordinating contractual processes.
Federica Stella holds a degree with honors in International Economics, Politics, and Institutions from the University of Pavia and brings extensive experience in the full lifecycle management of R&D&I programs. Before joining CMCC, she managed the Urban Farming Lab at the University of Salento, coordinating multidisciplinary research at the intersection of controlled-environment agriculture, systems ecology, and automation technologies. She lectured on Economics of Sustainable Agri-food Systems at LUM University, where she also coordinated the Executive Master in Wine Business Innovation and taught the module on Digital Transformation and Sustainability along the Wine Supply Chain.
She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Economics and Management of Sustainability and Innovation, focusing on sustainability-oriented innovation in aquaponics and climate-resilient food production.
Her work bridges research, institutional collaboration, and innovation management, supporting the development of integrative tools and knowledge that enhance coastal resilience and evidence-based decision-making at a global scale.
