Maria Mirto received the PhD degree in Innovative Materials and Technologies at the University of Salento, in 2006.
In 2009, she joined the Advanced Scientific Computing Division (formerly Scientific Computing and Operations Division) at the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC).
She was involved in the following projects: EU GridLab, FIRB LIBI (International Laboratory on Bioinformatics), EU FP7 IS-ENES and PON TESSA. She is now actively involved in the Interreg 2007-2013 project, OFIDIA (Operational FIre Danger preventIon plAtform), as project manager.
Her research interests include high performance computing, distributed and grid computing. She has experience in the design and development of a grid workflow management system, that integrates basic services of different grid middlewares (Globus, gLite, Unicore). Her experience regards also the development of grid portals and services in Problem Solving Environments for Biomedicine, Bioinformatics and Fire Danger prevention.
She is co-author of more than 50 papers in refereed books, journals and proceedings on parallel, grid computing and bioinformatics.
