Description
This research unit addresses national and international climate adaptation policies and set to inform decision making processes.
The subunit Institutional Relations and Adaptation Policies, led by Dr. Sergio Castellari, operates as the Italian National Contact Point for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and oversees international and national framework contracts such as the Italian National Climate Adaptation Strategy and the European Environmental Agency’s Topic Centre on Climate Change impacts, Vulnerability and Adaptation (ETC-CCA).
The subunit Policy analysis and assessment, led by Elisa Calliari, analyses international and national policies related to climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction, including the post-2015 international policy framework on DRR. Emphasis is placed on Loss and Damage international mechanism established under the premises of UNFCCC and the multi-sectoral partnerships promoted to aid the least developed and small island developing states.
The subunit Participatory decision making, led by Prof. Carlo Giupponi, analyses and advices bottom-up decision making processes related to DRR and climate adaptation.
