The CMCC – Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change – is participating in the AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, one of the most important global events dedicated to artificial intelligence, reaffirming its role as an international leader in climate research.
Within the Italian Pavilion, dedicated to national excellence in supercomputing, AI, and advanced technologies, CMCC is bringing its most innovative activities to India, focusing on the integration of climate sciences and artificial intelligence. The Italian delegation includes institutions, companies, and scientific research centers in a setting designed to strengthen technological collaboration between Italy and India.
During the Summit, Paola Mercogliano, CMCC principal scientist, will speak about how artificial intelligence is opening new frontiers in climate system modeling by integrating machine learning and deep learning techniques with traditional Earth System Models.
This convergence between climate sciences and AI represents a true methodological revolution, expanding our understanding of the climate system and accelerating the production of knowledge useful to governments, businesses, and society.
The presence of CMCC at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, which takes place just days after the signing of the collaboration between CMCC and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, is a global opportunity for exchange that allows CMCC to share the ongoing evolution of its computational infrastructure and its multidisciplinary approach integrating climate modeling, socio-economic impacts, and resilience analysis, thereby reaffirming its role on the global stage.
