On the occasion of its Annual Conference, in Bergen, Norway, the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE) has released a statement on academic and research freedom, reaffirming the importance of protecting the independence of scientific work. The statement, endorsed by nearly 400 signatories from the academic community, highlights the growing challenges faced by researchers worldwide and stresses that academic freedom is a cornerstone of democratic societies and essential for advancing knowledge.
