Climathon Venice is the winner of the Italian edition of Climathon 2018.
As one of the main organizer of Climathon Lecce and Climathon Venice, the CMCC Foundation participated in Ecomondo, the international event that brings together in an unique platform all the different sectors of circular economy, in order to present them.
All the Italian cities that hosted a Climathon 24-hour hackathon this year, in fact, came in Rimini at Ecomondo to present their challenges. More in detail, the hosts illustrated the challenges of the cities, while participants had two minutes to present their winning ideas.

Then, a jury proclaimed the winning team of Climathon 2018: Climathon Venice! The project “LightBlue” won the Italian 2018 Climathon edition as the most innovative and technological solution presented. The idea is innovative as respond to the key challenge of reducing the plastic produced by tourists in Venice combining economic incentives and technology. LightBlue will promote the development and distribution of sustainable and eco-friendly water bottles that represent a real “ticket for Venice”: the QR code printed on the front side of the bottles will guarantee discounts for local transport and museums. A way to encourage the enjoyment of the beauty of Venice in a green perspective. Moreover,  citizens and tourists will be able to use an app to find out where the nearest refill point is while encouraging them to refill and reuse their water bottles one more time.
