Energy notes from the IEW

The International Energy Workshop (IEW) is one of the leading conferences for the international energy modeling research community. The IEW provides a unique opportunity for researchers and analysts to compare quantitative energy projections, to understand the reasons for diverging views of future energy developments, and to observe new trends in global energy production and consumption.

IEW 32nd edition was held in Paris on June 19-21, 2013. During this event, the online journal Review of Environment, Energy and Economics (Re3) interviewed the keynote speakers Carlo Carraro, Jos Delbeke, David Hobbs, Jiang Kejun, Leena Srivastava and Jorge Vasconcelos.

Jos Delbeke, European Commission’s DG Climate Action, enlightens how is so difficult to reach a global climate agreement and talks about pledges, the voluntary commitments undertaken by individual countries. Nevertheless pledges are important, It will be crucial to check and control their effectiveness.
