CMCC at the DACA-13 conference

Posted on

CMCC is attending the Davos Atmosphere and Cryosphere Assembly (DACA-13), an event jointly organized by the International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences (IAMAS) and the International Association of Cryospheric Sciences (IACS), in Davos (Switzerland, 8-12 June 2013). More in detail, four researchers of SERC Division, Enrico Scoccimarro, Alessio Bellucci, Myriam D’Errico and Matteo Zampieri, will join the conference.

DACA-13 – General information
To face today’s key challenges of global environmental change it is essential to cooperate at the interface between atmospheric and cryospheric sciences, and to pay attention to the complex interactions between these two vulnerable components. The International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences (IAMAS) and the International Association of Cryospheric Sciences (IACS), both Associations of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG), welcome you to the Davos Atmosphere and Cryosphere Assembly DACA-13 in Switzerland in July 2013.
The conference will bring together some 900 scientists from both fields to present and discuss the latest research in separate or joint sessions. A large variety of topics will be covered, from ice-sheet modelling to extreme climate events, from solar UV radiation to avalanche formation and permafrost – be sure to contribute and benefit from the possibility to extend your network and meet excellent scientists from a wide range of fields.

In a radio interview for the German Public Radios science programme “Forschung Aktuell”, Enrico Scoccimarro presented the study ” Tropical Cyclone Effects on Arctic Sea Ice Variability”, the work presented at the conference and already published on Geophysical Research Letters.
