We are deeply sad to announce that on April 24th, one of our friends and colleagues working at the CMCC premises in Bologna, Mohamed Omar, passed away.
Mohamed joined us in September 2019, but even in this short period, he quickly gained respect and friendship from all of us with his exceptional capacity, intelligence, and altruism.
He always went about with a smile, and was gentle and helpful with everybody. He worked in the Mediterranean modeling group, and his contribution to the understanding of the assimilation of sea level anomaly observations in the Mediterranean forecasting system was fundamental.
His passion and dedication to science, the desire to solve problems, and even more his smile, generosity and kindness are the qualities that he is leaving to the whole scientific community and to his friends.
His wife, beloved children and all his family are in our thoughts and prayers.
We will miss you, Mohamed.
