Mitigation policy, the need of a radical approach

Posted on

Riccardo Valentini (CMCC Iafent Division Director) talks to Climate Change TV about the increasing greenhouse gases emissions and the implications on future climate change.

The rate of CO2 global emissions brings us to a point where we need a radical approach, Prof. Valentini says. “According to the current scenario, we must admit that the target of two degrees Celsius is not achievable and reducing emissions in the future will not be enough. We should do better for negative emissions, we have to continue to stop deforestation and to develop and use new technologies for carbon sequestration and storage”. In other words, concluded Prof. Valentini, we really need more aggressive mitigation policies.
