The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has issued two calls for authors for the upcoming Special Report on Climate Change and Cities and the 2027 Methodology Report on Inventories for Short-lived Climate Forcers. The IPCC Focal Point for Italy invites expressions of interest from Italian-affiliated experts to contribute to the reports production. A webinar for experts in Italy to present the details of the calls will take place on September 4, 2024.

 

Nominations submitted by the Focal point for Italy need to be received by Friday, 13 September 2024 (midnight CEST) in order to be submitted in time to the IPCC. (Nominations need to be submitted by the Focal point to the IPCC by Friday, 20 September 2024).

 

A webinar for experts in Italy to present the details of the call will take place on September 4, at 10:00-11:00 CEST. (More information on the webinar at this link).

The IPCC Focal Point for Italy will host an “Open Hour” webinar on Wednesday, September 4 at 10:00 a.m. CEST, to introduce the call and clarify all aspects of the nomination process. The webinar will be hosted by Anna Pirani, CMCC and Focal Point alternate for Italy, who also served as executive editor of the IPCC Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5°C and the IPCC AR6 in Working Group I, and was an author of the IPCC AR6 Synthesis Report.

The webinar speakers will be Annalisa Cherchi, Italian National Research Council – Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate (CNR-ISAC) and lead author of the IPCC AR6 in Working Group I; Giacomo Grassi, Joint Research Centre (JRC) and member of the IPCC Bureau of the Task Force on greenhouse gas inventories (TFI), who also served as contributing author of the IPCC AR6 in Working Group III and as lead author of the IPCC 2019 Methodological Refinement of the 2006 Guidelines and the Special Report on Climate Change and Land; and Elena Verdolini, CMCC and lead author of the IPCC AR6 in Working Group III.
