In 2025, 1,034,000 hectares of forest burned in Europe – an area larger than Cyprus – and global wildfire events may increase by around 50% by the end of the century if current climate and land‑use trends continue. But wildfires are not just about stats and figures, they tell a story about the direct impacts of extreme events on the heath of people and ecosystems and the battles being fought by people on the ground to find solutions. 

This week we bring you a collection of the most interesting research and solutions that emerged from the Wildfire predictions and risk management in a changing climate event on June 24, co-organized by CMCC and the Leverhulme Centre for Wildfires, Environment and Society during the London Climate Action Week.
