The Researchers’ Night has been promoted by the European Commission since 2005 with the aim of giving citizens the opportunity to meet researchers, reinforcing the relationship between science, school and society and encouraging young people to explore the world of research.

On September 23rd, 2011, 250 European cities, among which the three university towns of the Veneto Region, will host media events, performances, experiments, conferences and exhibitions. venetonight the European Researchers’ Night in Veneto, will take place in Venice, Padua and Verona and is organised by Università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia, IUAV, Università degli Studi di Padova, Università degli studi di Verona, Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei, Comune di Venezia and Unioncamere del Veneto, in collaboration with the International Center for Climate Governance (ICCG).

During the day and until late night, researchers will meet people in a variety of activities (all free of charge), including laboratories, guided visits to the city centres, quizzes, conferences, entertainment, shows and cultural events.

This is not the first time for Venice: in 2010, the city hosted the event VeNIGHTthe European Researchers’ Night in Venice, also funded by the European Commission within the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development.
