Wildfires: the Second International Conference in Alghero

Wildfires and their impacts will represent a major challenge for researchers, stakeholders and policy makers in the future. The II International Conference on Fire Behaviour and Risk to be held in Alghero, Sardinia, Italy, from May 26th to 29th, 2015, takes stock of such important issue while fostering interdisciplinary dialogue between different actors and promoting international cooperation.

More in detail, the conference is about six main topics, that is, fire behaviour and risk; modeling and monitoring fuel characteristics and fires; fire management; climate and fires; socio-economic issues and policies; national and international projects on fire.

As main objectives of the conference, there are to advance knowledge on interactions, relationships, feedbacks, and cascading effects of fire on environment and society while encouraging discussion and sharing on fire modeling and monitoring, adaptation and mitigation strategies, and sustainable management.
