Clean Energy Perspectives is the quarterly Newsletter of the Europe-China Clean Energy Centre (EC2). It is intended as a means of sharing updated information on clean energy, announcing events and showcasing best practices and case studies.

The Newsletter includes an overview of EC2 activities and interdisciplinary contributions from high-level European and Chinese members of the EC2 partnership.

Clean Energy Perspectives  is targeted to potential beneficiaries of EC2 activities and services, providing them with an in-depth analysis of key topics in the clean energy field and bridging the gap between academic argumentation and the practical achievement of cost-benefit advantages.

The first issue of Clean Energy Perspectives  gives an overview of EC2, focusing on its establishment, objectives, main focus areas, organization, partners, and opportunities for collaboration.

About EC2

The Europe-China Clean Energy Centre (EC2) is a 5-year long EU-funded cooperation project started in April 2010. EC2 has been originally set-up by the European Commission, the National Energy Administration of China and the Ministry of Commerce of China, with the support of the Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea.

The Centre is managed by a consortium of nine partners, six European and three Chinese, led by Politecnico di Torino (Italy). CMCC is the Leader of Work Package C (Capacity Building) and is also involved in WP A (Elaborating an Exit Strategy) and D (“Elaborating an Awareness Raising Strategy” and “Action Plan and Building and Operating a website”).

EC2 main task is to promote an increased use of clean energy in China and to support the Chinese Government’s efforts to shape a more sustainable, environmental friendly and efficient energy sector.

The five focus areas of the Centre are: clean coal, sustainable biofuels, renewable energy sources, energy efficiency in energy consumption, and sustainable and efficient distribution systems.

EC2 network of excellence acts as an intelligent hub to provide advice to Chinese and European players of the energy sector. In this perspective, EC2 has been implementing a series of different activities: fostering international technology transfer and cooperation, providing assistance on policy-making, delivering institutional capacity building, and promoting awareness-raising on clean energy and its benefit to the environment.
