The CMCC Foundation is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the 42nd cycle of the international PhD programme in “Future Earth, Climate Change and Societal Challenges”, offered in collaboration with University of Bologna.
For the 2026/2027 academic year, the CMCC Foundation contributes with two PhD scholarships within the programme, supporting advanced research on climate change and environmental transformations.
The PhD programme is interdisciplinary and designed to train the next generation of researchers and professionals working at the interface between climate science, environmental studies, policy, risk assessment, and socio-economic transformation. The programme promotes collaboration across scientific, engineering, and social science disciplines, providing access to an international research environment and state-of-the-art facilities.
The programme covers a broad range of research areas related to climate change and sustainability, including climate science, adaptation and mitigation strategies, environmental governance, forecasting systems, risk assessment, and societal impacts of environmental change.
