The Green Paper on future EU research and innovation funding

On May, 20th the European Commission closed the public consultation on the Green Paper entitled “From Challenges to Opportunities: Towards a Common Strategic Framework (CSF) for EU Research and Innovation funding” – COM(2011)48.
The consultation focused on the key issues to be taken into account in order to make easier the participation to EU research and innovation funding programmes, to increase their scientific and economic impact and to provide better value for money. The outcome of the consultation will be used to design the proposals, to be presented by the Commission by the end of 2011, for a legislative decision of the Council and Parliament on the Common Strategic Framework.

More than 1300 responses to the online questionnaire and more than 750 written responses have been received by the EC. All of the written responses are being made available on the EC’s website. The Commission is analysing the responses and a summary analysis will be made available on the same website.

On April, the European Commission also launched a competition for a new name for the next EU Research and Innovation Programme (following the FP7 – Seventh Framework Programme 2007-2013).

On June 10, 2011 in Brussels, an conference concluding the current consultation on the Common Strategic Framework will be organized. In the same occasion the results of the consultation with be discussed with the stakeholder community and the name of the new EU Research and Innovation Programme will be announced by Commissioner Geoghegan-Quinn.
