Workshop – Project meeting
18-19 June 2026 | Caserta

The EU–India Workshop on Regional Climate Modelling is a two-day scientific event organised within the framework of the GANANA project, the EU–India collaboration on High-Performance Computing (HPC). Hosted at the CMCC offices in Caserta, the workshop is organised by CMCC, which plays a strategic role within the initiative by leading activities related to regional climate modelling for selected Indian regions and coordinating the project’s communication and dissemination activities.

The workshop will bring together researchers and scientists from CMCC and Indian partners from C-DAC, the premier R&D organisation under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. The event aims to foster knowledge exchange, present ongoing activities, and explore new opportunities for collaboration within the GANANA project.

Participants will discuss research topics of mutual interest, including emerging approaches in regional climate modelling, air quality applications, benchmarking strategies, and the representation of the Indian monsoon in regional climate models. Through dedicated discussion sessions, the workshop will strengthen scientific dialogue between European and Indian partners and identify potential areas for joint research and future cooperation within the framework of GANANA.

The workshop will involve several researchers from CMCC, including Paola Mercogliano, Mario Raffa, Marianna Adinolfi, Angelo Campanale, Marcello Iotti, Alessandro Sebastianelli, Alejandro Vichot Llano, Oliver Savio Carlo, Stefania Oliva, Massimo Muraro, Emanuele Tedesco, Giusy Fedele, Antonella Mele, Ilenia Manco, and Francesca Vittorioso and Manuel Stocchi.

Following the workshop held in Caserta, the visit of the Indian partners from C-DAC will conclude at the CMCC headquarters in Lecce. The programme includes a visit to the ADIC Centre, which is involved in the project together with the REMHI Division, as well as an institutional visit to the CMCC Supercomputing Centre. The delegation will also be joined by Manoj Khare, the Indian Project Coordinator, and a representative of MeitY (the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Government of India), under which C-DAC operates.
