Contemporary climate planning and policy is failing to keep the promise of 1.5°C alive and to deliver fit-for-purpose adaptation. At the same time, they continue to overlook the historic and cultural origins of anthropogenic climate change and the socio-cultural enabling conditions of transformative climate action.
The European Heritage Hub Forum will demonstrate the negative consequences of pursuing climate action in Europe and beyond without the necessary and adequate contribution by culture and cultural heritage. It will lay out pathways to fill this gap by holistically integrating culture and heritage into climate action at European and global levels. It will launch a call to action to mobilise public and private support to put culture and cultural heritage at the heart of green transformation.

This Forum is organised in the framework of the European Heritage Hub project co-funded by the European Union and in partnership with The Home of the Human Safety Net, which will host the event at its premises at the Procuratie Vecchie in St Mark’s Square. Built in the early 1500s, this landmark building recently underwent a comprehensive renovation led by Sir David Chipperfield, laureate of this year’s Pritzker Architecture Prize.
