On July, 15th, CMCC Foundation and the Wageningen Environmental Research (WR) are organising a dissemination webinar entitled “The Impact of Climate Change on Ecosystems” to showcase the range of services developed under the SDGs-EYES project aimed at enhancing understanding and awareness of the environmental impacts of climate change. The event will focus on five key services that address different dimensions of ecosystem vulnerability and degradation in response to climate-related pressures:
Service No. 1 – GHG Emissions from Forest Fire
Service No. 4 – Sea Surface Acidity
Service No. 5 – Marine Waters Eutrophication
Service No. 6 – Forest Cover Change
Service No. 7 – Soil Erosion by Water
These services are designed to deliver user-relevant, scientifically grounded information to support monitoring and decision-making related to ecosystems and natural resources under stress from climate change.
Throughout the webinar, participants will gain insights into the rationale, main features, and target users of these services. Special attention will be given to the co-design process that guided their development—an inclusive methodology involving researchers, environmental authorities, policy actors, and civil society stakeholders to ensure the services address real-world needs and priorities.
In addition to technical presentations, the event will encourage reflection on the broader role of environmental indicators in supporting sustainable development. Connections will be made to relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), fostering discussion on how climate data and ecosystem services can be made more usable, relevant, and impactful. The webinar ultimately seeks to promote knowledge exchange and informed action in the face of growing environmental challenges.
