High-level meeting
27 June 2025 | CMCC Headquarters

On June 27, CMCC had the pleasure of welcoming a distinguished delegation of ministerial officers from Albania, Egypt, El Salvador, Eritrea, Ghana, Kenya, Italy, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Mozambique, Senegal, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, and Vietnam, for a dedicated presentation of the Foundation’s work on global coastal resilience as a new climate change frontier.

The visit was organized in the context of the 6th edition of the Advanced Specialized Course on Sustainable Development of Coastal Communities, a high-level training program organized by CIHEAM Bari and funded by the Italian Cooperation. The program brings together professionals and decision-makers from diverse backgrounds, working on coastal and marine management challenges.

Given the course’s focus, CIHEAM Bari proposed a dedicated visit to CMCC to highlight how scientific research supports sustainable coastal development. The event featured a roundtable discussion moderated by Orazio Albano (CIHEAM Bari), during which CMCC researcher, Ivan Federico, and Scientific Program Manager, Federica Stella Blasi, presented innovative approaches being developed at CMCC, particularly within the framework of the Global Coasts as a New Frontier program, in collaboration with the Global Coastal Ocean Division and other research teams.

The visit included a guided tour of CMCC’s High Performance Computing Centre, led by Osvaldo Marra, offering delegates a glimpse into the technological infrastructure supporting CMCC’s climate research.

This exchange was a valuable opportunity to share knowledge and reinforce the collaboration between CIHEAM Bari and CMCC, two international centres of excellence working together for the future of coastal communities.
