Rebeca Biancardi Aleu is an environmental political scientist with six years of experience in climate change adaptation across Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, and Europe. She is currently pursuing a PhD at the Centre for Environmental Policy at Imperial College London and collaborating with the Institute for Climate Resilience (ICR), Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC).
Since joining CMCC in 2023, Rebeca has contributed to several Horizon Europe, LIFE and Interreg projects, among others, AcquaGuard, TransformAr, Climax Po, Nevermore, Valorada, and STONEWALLSFORLIFE.
During her career, she has worked with high-level experts and policymakers at the European Commission, the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI HQ) in Sweden, and the African Climate and Development Initiative (ACDI) in South Africa. Her work has focused on nature-based solutions, climate migration, green infrastructure, and participatory water governance, with research conducted in Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Namibia, and Tanzania. Her findings and contributions have been published in international peer-reviewed journals, including Scientific Data, Regional Environmental Change, Landscape and Urban Planning, and Ecology and Society and presented at international conferences, including the Italian Society of Climate Sciences, FAO’s First African Forum for Urban Forest, and the INTERSOL Conference.
Rebeca holds a bachelor’s degree in Politics and International Relations, a master’s degree in African Politics, and an advanced studies master in Geographic Information Systems for Integrated Natural Resource Management with a major in Green Infrastructure and Ecosystem Services.
