Antonietta Capotondi, University of Colorado Boulder, was appointed Bassi Fellow with a residency in March and April 2026. Dr. Capotondi is a distinguished expert in large-scale ocean circulation who significantly contributed to the study of climate extremes in the ocean, as well as the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) phenomenon and processes. Her fellowship focuses on understanding and predicting surface and subsurface Marine Heatwaves, including process understanding and evaluation of coastal impacts with a focus on the Mediterranean Sea.
