Stefano joined the CMCC’s Risk Assessment and Adaptation Strategies division as ‘Environmental economist and risk analyst’ in June 2023. He is currently working on several projects focusing on insurance against climate and natural risks and on innovative strategies to finance investments in nature. Moreover, he collaborates with the European Topic Centre on Climate change adaptation (ETC-CA) where he oversees the update of the EEA indicator and dashboard on “Economic losses from weather- and climate-related extremes in Europe”. He is also an adjunct lecturer at Ca’ Foscari University where he teaches Data Analysis (FOY28) for the foundation year.
Before joining the CMCC, Stefano was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Economic and Social Research Institute (Dublin), where he investigated scenarios for just resilience and adaptation to climate change in Ireland. He was also a teaching fellow at Trinity College Dublin, where he taught Economics for Management (BUU11520) and Industrial Economics B (ECU33072).
Stefano holds a PhD in economics from Trinity College Dublin. His research interests lie at the intersection between environmental economics and behavioural sciences. His recent publications investigate the impact of air pollution on vote preferences, and the effect of using monetary energy information on the preferences for energy-efficient appliances. Stefano also holds an MSc in Economics and a BA in International Trade from Ca’ Foscari University.
